To the OakBend Family:

It’s been almost one year since we saw the first case of COVID-19 in Fort Bend County and our hospital. Throughout this tumultuous time, we’ve been challenged in ways we never thought possible. COVID-19 has tested the resources of our hospital, the health of our community, and the courage of our staff.

Through it all, we have been steadfast and resilient against a disease that was virtually unknown and threw us curveballs at almost every turn. Together, we are doing the important work of keeping this virus at bay. Even though vaccination continues across the country and state, we must remain vigilant to ensure we finally put COVID-19 to rest.

Wearing a mask works. Handwashing and social distancing work. These proven methods can help us keep cases low in our hospital and county. The COVID-19 vaccines have been proven to be remarkably effective, so I strongly encourage you to take the vaccine when you have the opportunity. It will protect not only you, but those around you.

Stay positive, resilient and determined. Together we will get through this, and we’ll be stronger for it.

Sincerely,

Joe Freudenberger
