NICHE Designated Hospital
The NICHE program is designed to upgrade the quality of care for older adult patients by increasing awareness of geriatric issues, improving staff competence in nursing care of the elderly, and supporting the implementation of hospital geriatric protocols. NICHE’s goal is to achieve systematic nursing change that will benefit the care of older adults in all healthcare settings, and its vision is for all patients 65 and over to be given sensitive and exemplary care. The mission of NICHE is to provide principles and tools to stimulate a change in the culture of healthcare facilities to achieve patient-centered care for older adults. Our Jack & Billie Wendt Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) Unit is committed to this quality of care.
The Joint Commission Accreditation
Accreditation by The Joint Commission is considered the gold standard in health care. Specially trained health care professionals who are experts in their fields visited this facility to conduct a review that monitors how well our staff provides safe environments for care, educate patients about their treatment, protect patient rights and privacy, protect patients against infection, evaluate patient conditions correctly, and plan for emergencies.
The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program is an internationally recognized laboratory inspection program, the only one of its kind utilizing multidisciplinary teams of practicing laboratory professionals as inspectors. American Heart Association/American Stroke Association
“Get with the Guidelines” Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award
The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association recognizes this hospital for achieving 85% or higher compliance with all Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Achievement Measures and 75% or higher compliance with five or more Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Quality Measures for two or more consecutive years and achieving Time to Thrombolytic Therapy < 60 minutes 50% or more of applicable acute ischemic stroke patients to improve quality of patient care and outcomes.
Texas Ten Step Breastfeeding Education Award
The Texas Ten Step designation is awarded to facilities that are implementing policies that are aligned with the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding and encourages continued progress toward pursuit of Baby-Friendly Hospital designation.
