The generosity of the OakBend family plays a significant role in ensuring OakBend’s continued success. Philanthropy is the difference between simply maintaining a quality hospital and our vision of being the BEST community healthcare organization.

In recent years, the investments of our community have truly transformed OakBend’s Jackson Street hospital campus. More than 1,200 individuals, businesses and foundations supported our Vision 2020 campaign to create a first-class healing environment at our historical home. The generosity led to the full renovation of our 4th and 5th floors, along with updates to our emergency care center, the exterior of the building, our skilled nursing facility, and common spaces on the first floor of the hospital.

Giving to OakBend Medical Center gives every member of the OakBend family an opportunity to support our mission. Since 1950, we have cared for our community. Your gift will help us continue this proud legacy and secure a healthier future for generations to come.

Gifts of any amount have a direct impact on the care we provide for our patients, and all gifts are deeply appreciated. OakBend accepts support through cash gifts, gifts of stock, charitable IRA distributions, and bequests.

We at OakBend Medical Center are greatly saddened by the loss of philanthropist and community leader Billie Wendt. In 1988, Mrs. Wendt was the first and only woman appointed to serve as a life member on the Polly Ryon Hospital Board of Trustees since Mrs. A.P George in 1950. Always gracious and a true Southern Lady, she and her husband’s generosity throughout the years brought numerous improvements in Fort Bend County, including OakBend Medical Center. Their donations allowed us to make major improvements to our Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) Unit. To honor the lifetime of support that was shown to the hospital, the ACE Unit was renamed to the Jack and Billie Wendt Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) Unit. Read Billie Wendt’s obituary here.
