Work Conditioning and Work Hardening Programs:

Work Conditioning and Work Hardening Programs are designed for patients who were injured on the job and are in need of specialized return to work rehabilitation.  A patient is a Work Hardening candidate if they have a targeted job to return to and are demonstrating behavioral and/or vocational barriers to return to work in addition to their physical and functional limitations. A patient is a candidate for a Work Conditioning Program if they are not demonstrating vocational or behavioral barriers to return to work. These patients may or may not have a targeted job to return to.

Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE):

A FCE is an evaluation individualized to the job-specific physical demands of each injured worker. This evaluation will assist the therapist in determining baseline physical and functional abilities and limitations in establishing an individualized work hardening/conditioning program.
When Ruben Flores got injured on the job working as an EMT/Firefighter, he thought he’d never go back to the way things were. With the help of OakBend Medical Center’s Industrial Rehabilitation Program, he’s now back keeping our community safe.

Hear From Patients:

“When I was discharged, I was assigned to OakBend outpatient physical therapy and I met the most wonderful staff. When I came to OakBend I could not walk, talk, or write so they had a lot of work to do. My first physical therapist was Lisa and she was positively awesome. I was willing to do whatever she asked me to do. She started off slow but she increased it as it went on. I would not be walking, talking, or able to write a little bit if it had not been for the staff, therapists, and their assistants here because they were totally awesome.” – Linda T.

“I improved greatly during my time in therapy. At the end of my scheduled therapy, they suggested I do Lifestyles to keep on improving. The friendliness of the people starts the moment you walk in the door. They always told you that you were doing a good job and improving, so it was wonderful to be there.” – Ruth V.
