OakBend Medical Group’s Dr. Joe Anzaldúa has been selected as one of the Texas Monthly Magazine’s Super Doctors® Texas. The printed listing will be in Texas Monthly Magazine’s December 2015 issue and online at: www.superdoctors.com.
Anzaldúa has been practicing family medicine in our area since 1985. A graduate of the University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio, Anzaldúa chose family medicine because of the variety of medical care it offers. According to Anzaldúa, “Family medicine provides a holistic approach to both wellness and illness care, which provides a perfect balance in my daily practice. I’ve always been intrigued with the psycho-social aspects of the family unit, both nuclear and extended – from delivering babies to discussing end-of-life issues with the family of an elderly Alzheimer’s patient.”
It is Anzaldúa’s belief that one of the most important qualities a family physician should have is “allowing the patient to be a partner in their own health care. That means listening, caring, involving, and educating the patient.”
“I am honored to have been selected as one of the Super Doctors® Texas,” said Anzaldúa, “it was a complete shock and I feel privileged.”
Dr. Anzaldúa is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. The Degree of Fellow recognizes AAFP members who have distinguished themselves among their colleagues, as well as in their communities, by their service to family medicine, by their advancement of health care to the American people, and by their professional development through medical education and research. He is also Medical Director of Emergency Medical Services Education and Consulting, Inc. Married with three children, Anzaldúa has been a resident of Sugar Land for the past 30 years. He is a member of the St. Laurence Catholic Parish in Sugar Land; and, for the past 12 years, Dr. Anzaldúa has been a member of the Houston Symphony Chorus.
