OakBend Medical Center held its Patchwork of Life event on Thursday, October 13th. This year’s event honored the hospital volunteers for their 59 years of service and dedication to the hospital’s patients, visitors and staff.
The event, “Patchwork of Life, Mending Lives Stitch by Stitch”, was chaired by May Tape, DDS and Beth Wolf and was held at Safari Texas. The fundraiser was for the OakBend’s Jackson Street ER. The Honorary Chair, Pat Hebert, was unable to attend due to a trip to China; however, she recorded a video message for the attendees thanking them for their attendance and their support of OakBend Medical Center.
For the past four years, the Patchwork of Life event has been used to raise much needed funds for a variety of areas in the hospital. From building the Acute Care for the Elderly (ACE) Unit to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), funds are raised through sponsorships, the sale of quilt squares, raffle sales, donations and live auction.
This year’s event had over 700 attendees and raised more than $385,000 for the Jackson Street emergency care center. “Our community is amazing and we are grateful for their generosity and their support,” stated Joe Freudenberger, CEO of OakBend Medical Center. “Each year our event has continued to grow and we are appreciative of the loyalty shown by our community leaders, friends, family, staff and vendors as they continue to support OakBend Medical Center.”
