OakBend Medical Center’s annual “Patchwork of Life” fundraising event took place on Thursday, October 16th at Safari Texas Ranch. It was an extraordinary evening with over 450 people standing behind a wonderful cause for the hospital. Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour where they could purchase quilt squares to be incorporated into a quilt for the beneficiary, the Senior Behavioral Health Unit, a delicious dinner, presentation, and live auction. This year’s Patchwork of Life Honorees were Joe & Doris Gurecky. The Gureckys’ support and continued advocacy of OakBend was recognized just before the very successful live auction began.
Last year, together with the Fort Bend community, we raised enough to fund the construction of our Acute Care for the Elderly Unit (ACE Unit) on the third floor of the Jackson Street Campus. This unit is scheduled to open very soon. We cannot thank you all enough!
This year’s theme, “Precious Memories,” benefited the Senior Behavioral Health Unit of the Jackson Street Campus. This unit was designed by experts in the geriatric field, specifically for older adults in the community that are experiencing mental, emotional or behavioral problems. Our trained professionals are dedicated to maintaining every patient’s self-respect and dignity throughout all phases of treatment and are available 24/7. In this unit, we are guided by three simple words: Compassion, Integrity, and Quality. OakBend’s Senior Behavioral Health Unit is almost at capacity so we must expand in order to continue assisting families in need.
